Assistant Project Manager

Full-Time in San Francisco

About the Role

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will be an essential member of our project management team, supporting the successful execution of mechanical design-build projects for commercial tenant improvements in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will work at the heart of our operations, fostering collaboration between our Project Managers, engineering teams, and field crews to ensure our projects are delivered with the highest level of quality. This role is a critical launching point for a career in mechanical construction management, offering direct mentorship and hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and managing project budgets by reviewing initial estimates and creating comprehensive financial plans.

  • Support project scheduling by tracking key dates for startup, testing, and subcontractor mobilization.

  • Manage the procurement process by creating and maintaining a detailed log for all project materials and equipment.

  • Draft and manage key project documentation, including subcontracts, purchase orders, Requests for Information (RFIs), and Change Order Requests (CORs).

  • Facilitate seamless communication between office and field teams, including Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen.

  • Process and manage project submittals, understanding reviewer comments and facilitating necessary revisions.

  • Review and interpret project documents such as daily field reports, construction plans, and Test & Balance reports.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years in a construction-related role

  • A foundational understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and sprinkler systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction plans and project schedules.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.

  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to daily tasks, with the ability to take responsibility and work independently.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the resilience to prioritize duties and manage conflicting demands in a pressure-filled environment.

  • Experience with construction software such as Foundation, Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, MS Excel, and MS Word.

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or mechanical engineering is desirable.

$80,000-$120,000 annually
